"Yeni Kıbrıs Partisi (YKP), 18 Nisan’da yapılacak “cumhurbaşkanlığı” seçimini boykot kararı aldı.
Kıbrıslı Türkleri tepkilerini ortaya koymak için sandığa gitmemeye çağıran YKP, “bulunulan ortamda oy verip Türkiye’nin müdahalesini meşrulaştırmak yerine reddetmek ve sandığa gitmemenin en doğru tavrı olacağı” görüşünü dile getirdi.
Halka “sandıkta değil, sokakta buluşalım” çağrısı yapan YKP, haziran ayındaki yerel seçimlere ise, mümkün olan yerlerde katılmak için çalışma yapacağını duyurdu.
YKP Yürütme Kurulu Sekreteri Murat Kanatlı, Yürütme Kurulu üyeleri Alpay Durduran ve Erdinç Selasiye ve Parti Meclisi Üyesi Yılmaz Parlan’ın de katılımıyla 11 Mart, Perşembe günü parti merkezinde basın toplantısı düzenleyerek, seçimlere yönelik tavırlarını açıkladı.
Kanatlı, “Kıbrıs’ın kuzeyinde seçime seçim deme koşullarının olmadığını, nüfusun bilinmediğini, her taşın altından çıkan TC’li yetkililerin bulunduğunu, yeraltının temizlenmediği koşullarda adil ve adaletli bir seçim yapılamayacağını” kaydetti.
Üyeleriyle konuşarak karar aldıklarını belirten Kanatlı, “Talat ile Eroğlu arasında fark bulunmadığını ve bu iki adayın Kıbrıslılar için seçenek olmadığını” iddia ederek, bu konuda üyelerinin de hemfikir olduğunu anlattı.
“İkisi de Ankara’nın postacılığını yapmaya adaydırlar, bunun için Ankara-İstanbul-Lefkoşa hattında mekik dokumaktadırlar” ifadelerini kullanan Kanatlı, “herkesin dört gözle Ankara’nın sivil ve derin devletinden gelecek işareti beklediğini, böylesi bir ortamda oy verip Türkiye’nin müdahalesini meşrulaştırmak yerine reddetmek ve sandığa gitmemenin en doğru tavır olacağını” vurguladı.
YKP Yürütme Kurulu Sekreteri Kanatlı soruları yanıtlarken de, soldaki partilerin üçüncü aday arayışlarında YKP’ye teklif getiren olmadığını, sadece Talat’ın kendilerini ziyaret ettiğini, bunun da daha çok Kıbrıs sorunundaki gelişmelerin değerlendirilmesi şeklinde geçen bir görüşme olduğunu söyledi.
Yerel seçimlere katılımı, fikirlerini kitlelere ulaştırmak için değerlendirdiklerini belirten Kanatlı, yerel seçimlerin daha kitlesel ve tabana dönük olduğunu kaydetti.
Kanatlı, “Nereye kadar boykot” sorusunu yanıtlarken de, “YKP’nin tavrının rejimi rahatsız ettiğini ve bunun da iyi bir gelişme olduğunu” ifade ederek, sandığa gitmeyenlerin oranının yükselmesinde YKP’nin çağrılarının etkili olduğunu belirtti. Kanatlı seçime seçim deme koşullarının oluşması için diğer siyasi parti, sendika ve örgütleri mücadeleye çağırmaya devam edeceklerini, gelişecek koşullar çerçevesinde de her seçimi kendi koşullarında değerlendirip karar alacaklarının altını çizdi
Basın toplantısında daha sonra Yürütme Kurulu üyesi Erdinç Selasiye, parti meclisinin 2 Mart’taki kararını okudu. Kararda, cumhurbaşkanlığı seçimine katılmama kararı anlatılırken “YKP acenta başını seçme, baş postacı tayin etme sürecinde taraf olmayacaktır” ifadelerine yer verilirken, hazirandaki seçimlerde mümkün olan yerlerde seçime katılınması için yürütme kuruluna görev verildiği belirtildi."

ReplyDeleteThank you very much for publishing your announcements about YKP's decision to boycott the upcoming elections in the north.
I would like to congratulate you on two elements of your decision.
First, your decision is obviously not a passive abstention, but a political act with content and meaning. Also, in combination with the fact that YKP remains continuously active politically through other, non-electoral campaigns like demostrations, political education, publicity etc. maintaining a beacon that beams out your political message constantly, your decision will not leave a vacuum that can be exploited by other political forces. It is a sound and good policy.
Second, your analysis of the situation that led you to the decision to boycott is VERY important. I'd say it's the more important part of YKP's stance toward the elections. Your analysis contains more seeds of friendship and bridges of unity toward the hellenic (greek) cypriot community that are extremely valuable. Most hellene-cypriots are not aware that there exist turkish-cypriot political organizations with such a great analysis!
Your analysis includes a reconnaissance of elements on the landscape on which the elections and pre-election campaigns will take place: the occupation regime's illegal (underground) terror apparatus such as the Grey Wolves, TMT, the Ergenekon conspiracy networks; the "legal"-illegal arm of the occupation regime in the form of the separatist quasi-State; the presence of tens of thousands of illegal settlers from Turkey who are dependent on militarism, who vote illegally and therefore shift the electoral balance toward the right wing; the good relations between all the current candidates with the Government of Turkey which is the illegal occupation force holding half our country.... on and on, everything that YKP says makes very good sense.
You are right: participation in such elections where democracy is absent, is a ridiculous proposition.
YKP makes some very good arguments that should be heard by more hellene-cypriots. If you could issue your two statements in english or in greek we would do our best to distribute and disseminate them.
Şener Levent also takes some similar positions in his recent article published in the newspaper Politis titled "Rule by Occupation" - a greek language version with commentary by me is here:

where Şener speaks about the recent decision of the European Court of Human Rights.
In the article he concludes that the most important part of the Court's decision is Turkey's admission of the fact of military occupation of Cyprus in the eyes of the Court. "With that decision", wrote Şener, "the rule of occupation can be officially employed here. Turkey will now be able to assign a district governor, not an Ambassador. Turkey can dissolve the Parliament and the Presidency. And she can postpone the elections that are being conducted only for show, just as all the other institutions are also only for show. If Turkey does this, no one will question why there are no elections in northern Cyprus. In fact, some might even appreciate her for it. For ending the mockery."

I propose that you invite Murat in an open discussion with your darling comrades like anticapitalist Kolokassides and antiracist Varnabas of EDEK and the ultimate fighter for turkish Cypriots's rights (non stop dedication since 1963), Lyssarides (without his 11 bodyguards paid by the very affluent cypriot tax payer)
